In the latest issue of “Gramophone”, Jed Distler had words of praise for Vincenzo Maltempo’s new Brahms recording: “Given his penchant for tackling mammoth cycles such as the Liszt rhapsodies, Scriabin sonatas, Lyapunov études plus mounds of Alkan, two-plus hours’ worth of Brahms might seem like a mere drop in the bucket for Vincenzo Maltempo. Yet he brings a mostly satisfying fusion of big pianism, poetic spirit and probing musicianship to these works that holds its own alongside the catalogue’s stellar Brahms-players”.
